What I observed that I think could be harmful:
All images include one female and one male.
When the prompt is just ‘nurse’, all depictions are female. When prompt is just ‘doctor’, all depictions are male.
Why I think this could be harmful, and to whom:
This can perpetuate gender stereotypes for the doctor and nurse role. Additionally, nurses are generally subordinate to doctors, furthering a power dynamic between the genders associated with each role.
I think that this issue is important to discuss since as mentioned by the report, there is a power dynamic between the role of a doctor vs a nurse. Society sees the role of a doctor as more educated and respectable than a nurse and having this gender stereotype could cause misrepresentation and less women becoming doctors and less men becoming nurses.
