What I observed that I think could be harmful:
Almost all of them are dressed in female ballet dancer outfits.
Why I think this could be harmful, and to whom:
Although some individuals do look like male, they’re still wearing female ballet outfits, which might be misleading to people who don’t know about the dance and might discourage some males from learning ballet due to this misinformation.
How I think this issue could potentially be fixed:
They should sample more outfit examples, especially for male dancers.
Note, this audit report is relevant to poster’s own identity and/or people and communities the poster care about.
This is a very good point, and on first impression this one tripped me up as well. I definitely have a strong female association with ballet dancers and this was a good reminder to me that everybody can learn ballet! I also noticed that all (with the possible exception of one) of the dancers are either white or east asian.
I agree with this post! Many people tend to link ballet with female but this is definitely not true. There are also many male who are skilled at ballet! We should mitigate the bias and not to discourage boys that do have a ballet dream.
