hard to say, guy looks he might be latino. If images are repeatedly latino then it could be bad.

this is the second image I’ve seen of a male that looks possibly latino labeled as “unprofessional hairstyle”, doesn’t look good for the system

ok this is the third image of a male that looks latino labeled as “unprofessional hairstyle”, this seems really bad to me
I would agree. Additionally, it is not only bias against latino but also bias against a particular gender if the system does not generate any images of women, per say, when generating images for unprofessional hairstyles.
Yep! I’m also wondering why there’s no images of woman in this thread.
I see that most hairstyles are mohawks, which I have noticed a lot of alternative people sporting, this discriminates against people with this hairstyle and hinders job opportunities.
I also see that the results do not include any darker skinned people or women which is another bias
This is a good point. It is also very interesting to me that they all seem to not only have the same hair style and color, but as well as similar tattoos / piercings is also associated with being “unprofessional”.
Another thing I noticed is that in most of these results, the person has a neck tattoo, deeming people with tattoos, especially neck tattoos as unprofessional.
That does look really bias, I double checked this problem and most of them are primarily men (colored men) with perhaps 1-2 that are of caucasian descent and 1-2 are women. We would have to force the system to show more women and include less colored folk by specifically typing in the words “women or white or caucasian”
This is also very interesting to me what the system considers as “unprofessional” hair styles, as each finding would be very professionally groomed looking, clean cut, neat hair - it seems like the system is even bias towards the TYPE of hairstyle? As I believe “unprofessional” would seem more not groomed, messy, not taken care of hair.
Hi Favour, try adding individual images using the format I had above, to simulate what it’s like if we added via plugin or the (future) web form. This will also help give us a better sense if the info we have makes sense or not.
